The resort city of Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca, Mexico is a picturesque destination on the country’s Pacific shore. Enjoy the sunset as you walk along the beach and around the scenic, natural lagoon. Barter for souvenirs at the local market stalls or pick up some work from a local artist at one of the galleries.
Puerto Escondido is an active resort city year-round, with the high season running from December to April. The dry season starts in October, making October and November ideal months for enjoying great weather and taking advantage of deals on air fares before the busy season begins.
Puerto Escondido is a small city and most people can get around on foot. There are fixed taxi rate in town which are lower during the day, and going up at night. Rates must be confirmed on entering the taxi as some drivers will charge more. The city has a local bus system. For travel outside the city, there are businesses that rent cars and motorcycles. Most of the rental fleet vehicles are subcompact cars with manual transmission. If this is not acceptable then be sure to inquire ahead and reserve a more suitable vehicle.
