Famous for the olives that are grown and harvested in the region, Manzanillo is a Mexican destination which is revered by beach and nature lovers from neighbouring American states and worldwide. Manzanillo features two bays which are separated by the Santiago peninsula. Sandy beaches are located all along the bay’s front end, so this is a paradise for ocean lovers. Ocean Pacific Adventures offer fishing trips out to sea to catch sailfish and dorado, marlin and tuna. If underwater scenery strikes your fancy, then try the PADI dive center for some great day trips. Surfing is also popular in the bay. Neptune’s Dive College supplies equipment and offers trips.
If you want to enjoy the local shopping and eating experience, then visit Mariscos El Aliviane. This street stall sells tostadas, cocteles, shrimp platters, beer and the in-house salsa speciality. For eating out, there is a choice of several good quality restaurants in Manzanillo. You will find places and local diners serving great thin-crust pizzas as well as tacos el pastor, beans and salad at great prices. For Friday and Saturday night dancing, the Teque Night Club offers disco, contemporary and Colombian dance music. For some themed adventure tours try ATV Jungle and Beach Adventure, a tropical tour to Barra de Navidad, golf tour or shopping tour.
The port has a tropical savanna climate. The dry season runs from November to May. Temperatures during the dry season are cooler than during the rainy season. March is the coolest month with temperatures averaging at 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The wet season runs from June to October and temperatures are warmer at 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Mexican holidays and local events are also good times to visit the city, so time your visits to take advantage of this local color and tradition.
