Seychelles was pretty much desolate until the 17th century, when British settlers eyed the country for occupancy. By the end of the 18th century, the islands were under British rule and citizens worked to build up the islands as they are known to travelers today.
Today when your flight to Seychelles arrives, you’ll be amidst115 islands. The year-round tourist destination welcomes weary travelers disembarking Seychelles flights for some rest and rejuvenation at one of the island’s resorts. The miles of soft sand beaches and crystal-blue waters grace the Seychelles coastline offering visitors a chance at windsurfing, sailing, or just a bit of solitude. While the islands are blessed by tropical landscapes, travelers on Seychelles flights can also find a wealth of African culture in the food, clothes and music of Seychelles.
Longtime visitors booking flights to Seychelles know that since the 1960s, the islands were established as the top luxury destination in Africa. Despite recent economic drawbacks, committed travelers to the area continue to book Seychelles flights and resort accommodations for holiday and vacation travel. Tourism remains high but in competition with more budget-friendly destinations like Madagascar and Mauritius.
The Seychelles has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 75 to 85 F, and high humidity. Seasons are fairly constant except for the monsoon months. The southeast monsoon season lasts from May to September and brings cooler temperatures while the northwest monsoon spans October and March.
Fortunately, the islands’ tropical climate makes any time of the year easy to find cheap flights to the Seychelles.
Peak Season: If underwater sports are your calling, book flights to the Seychelles between April and October to maximize your time for snorkeling and diving. Water temperatures reach 86 degrees F, and you can easily see 100 feet into the clear, blue water. A week-long celebration called the Festival Kreol celebrates Creole traditions and is open to anyone booking flights to the Seychelles in March.
Off-peak Season:The winter months serve as the off season, but those booking flights to Seychelles can take part in the Seychelles Sailing Cup in January, when beautiful sea crafts take the sea-stage and cruise the waters.
Of the Seychelles 115 islands, only nine draw the most tourist attraction. Up to 20 domestic Seychelles flights within Mahe, La Dingue, and Praslin can be booked through Air Seychelles. Helicopter service also runs between Mahe and Silhouette, and Fregate and North Island.
For water-based Seychelles travel, hop aboard Cat Coco, which links Mahe with Praslin by a catamaran twice a day. Inter-island ferries run frequent service between Praslin and La Digue, and crossing usually takes about an hour.
The Seychelles Public Transportation Corporation runs bus service on Mahe and Praslin between 6 a.m and 7 p.m., including some night services. Car rental is possible as well, and major car rental agencies like Hertz and Sixt Rent A Car are available for help. Remember to drive on the left hand side of the road.
Outside of transportation rental, walking and biking are very popular among tourists and locals alike. Taxis are available at hotel stands and by hailing one on the street.
