A lot of us have been in this position, especially at the tail end of an exhausting trip. You get your bags, stumble to the parking garage and realize that you’ve forgotten to write down the parking slot. At 11:15 at night, all the garage levels look alike. Panic sets in. All you want to do is get in your car and go home.

The people who run Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) understand. The desert megaport has installed parking Assistance Call Boxes in its lots and garages. They’re located next to the elevators. If you can’t find your car, pick up the phone. PHX says an attendant will be there quickly.

Can’t find the boxes? Look for blue lights. That’s how you’ll find them. There are almost 150 of these angst-allaying wonders scattered throughout the airport’s parking garages and lots.

Don’t be bashful about using the things. Sky Harbor officials say some 35 fliers a day do precisely that.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International is home and a prime hub for US Airways. It’s also an important focus city for discount airline Southwest.
