It’s snowbird season. To that end a couple of new Latin flights recently took wing, while a new flight to Orlando waits for spring.
- There’s competition now when it comes to Denver flights to Mexico City. Aeromexico is now going head-to-head against Denver-hubbed United, if only on a seasonal basis. Aeromexico’s daily flights continue through April 29. Southbounds push back from the gate at DEN at 2:30 p.m. and arrive MEX at 7 p.m. Return northbound service departs Mexico City at 10:30 a.m. and arrive Denver International at 1:15 p.m.
- Copa Airlines became the only carrier fielding nonstop Chicago flights to Panama City, Panama recently. It’s not just the direct O’Hare – Panama City flight that matter here, but the connections you can make to the rest of Latin America from the Central American hub. There are forays to more than 50 destinations from PTY.
- Southbound Chicago flights to Panama City depart ORD at 8:09 a.m., arriving PTY at 2:28 p.m. Return Panama City flights to Chicago push back at 6:34 p.m. and get to O’Hare at 11:06 p.m.
- Now that AirTran is pulling out of Bloomington, another discount airline waits in the wings to take its place on flights from the Illinois city to Orlando. Allegiant Airlines intends to start flying the 928-mile route come Wednesday May 16.
- While AirTran flies nonstop from Bloomington flights to Orlando International, Allegiant’s trips will take you to smaller Orlando Sanford Airport. To underscore the fact that it’s starting the new route Allegiant is selling seats for as low as $74.99 one way. You’ve got to purchase by Feb. 6 and fly by Aug. 14. Taxes and fees are not included.
