‘Tis the season for snowstorms, blizzards and all around cold weather – who wouldn’t want to trade that for a balmy beach escape? Get some inspiration for your sunny getaway with this list of warm beach escapes for this winter.

Miami, Fla.

Miami boasts some of the warmest winter weather in the country, and winter also means humidity levels drop – an extra perk. Winter weather in the 60s and 70s means you don’t have to stow your short shorts and bathing suits away for the season. Make a trip to South Beach or any of Miami’s other dozen or so palm-laced beaches.

Los Angeles, Calif.

Southern California doesn’t really do winter – after all, temperatures generally hover around the 70s all winter long. And Los Angeles is the perfect home base for exploring the Southern Californian coast. Nearby, you’ll find beaches like Huntington, Newport and Laguna open during the winter, perfect for picnics, bonfires (where pits are available) and lazy California days on the beach.

Maui, Hawaii

There’s never a bad time to visit Hawaii, but the warm beaches on the sunny island of Maui can be especially tempting if your home is covered in a blanket of snow. Winter is the best season for whale watching in Maui, and the 75-degree waters are perfect for catching some waves this winter.

Turks & Caicos

It’s hard to argue with the 80-degree weather Turks & Caicos offers in the winter months. It’s even harder to resist the clear turquoise waters, powdered sand beaches and one of the largest coral reefs in the world. Head to the island of Providenciales to check out beautiful beaches like Grace Bay, Sapodilla Bay and Malcolm Bay.

Riviera Maya, Mexico

Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula is tropical all winter long, when temperatures are in the high 70s and low 80s. Beaches are covered in fine white sand and lined with picturesque turquoise waters, a welcome sight in the middle of winter. In fact, the waters of Riviera Maya and the giant coral reef below are the perfect pair for snorkeling this winter.
