A tour is a tour is a tour – that might be your first thought when you set out to see the sights in a new place. But sometimes someone shakes up the standard city tour.

Robert Welch has done just that for about 10,000 people and counting. The entrepreneur started his tour company (along with a few partners at the time) in 2009.

Say goodbye to boring narration and packed buses. Knowledgeable smallcarBIGCITY staff take you around London in a Mini Cooper, navigating narrow streets, showing you quirky, tucked-away sights and confidently sharing the road with the city’s iconic double-decker buses. The experience is often scored by a playlist full of – you guessed it – Beatles tunes.

London seems somehow reinvented from the backseat of a Mini Cooper. The car’s ability to maneuver through back streets and bustling markets gives visitors an intimate London experience.

Your driver will even pick you up for your tour, as long as you’re in central London, and each Mini can hold up to three passengers. The price of a tour will vary, depending on what you choose for the length of a ride.

Some potential tour highlights include Borough Market, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, a ride through the streets of Covent Garden and a look at the original Twinings tea house.

You’ll never look at this big city the same way again once you’ve seen it from a small car.
