SkyTeam (Web site: www.skyteam.com) frequent flyers can use their miles to upgrade to Business Class on SkyTeam member airlines, the global alliance has announced.

To avail the offer, passengers must purchase a regular full-fare Economy Class ticket on any of the ten SkyTeam member carriers, including Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France, KLM and Northwest Airlines. Codeshare partners are not permitted.

Three days before departure, travelers must call the airline’s award reservation line and check whether seats are available in Business Class.

After their account balance and miles have been verified, the reservations department will upgrade them to Business Class if they are eligible.

Leo van Wijk, SkyTeam chairman, said: “The ability to earn and redeem miles has always been a key passenger benefit of alliances.

“With the launch of SkyTeam Mileage Upgrades, we are responding to passenger requests as we look to continuously expand upon the benefits we offer our customers.”
