The Air Traffic Control System Command Center (www.fly.faa.gov) is reporting flight delays at Boston‘s Logan International Airport (BOS), New York airports and Philadelphia airports.

According to the FAA, incoming flight traffic scheduled for these airports is being delayed at its departure point. Travelers should check their departure airport to see if today’s flights are affected. Officials at BOS advised all travelers with flights today to contact their airline before heading to the airport.

The cause of the delays is courtesy of a winter storm that passed through much of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern States yesterday, showering the areas with heavy rain, snow and ice.

As of early Friday morning, The Weather Channel (www.weather.com) reported 3 to 5 inches of snow in eastern Kentucky to central Pennsylvania, and to 5 to 7 inches in parts of upstate New York into New England. Overnight, an intense ice storm pounded parts of eastern New York State, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

Weather.com is reporting this storm will move quickly northeast, but travelers are advised to plan accordingly.
