It’s not enough that an airport has a website (surprisingly, some foreign airports still don’t). To be competitive these days airport websites must be mobile. To that end, San Diego International just rolled out its version of info to go.
Go to www.san.org on your mobile device and you’ll be automatically directed to the new slimmed-down site. San Diego says it’s designed “to provide the most relevant…in-demand information,” and do it in a no-nonsense, easy-to-assimilate fashion.
Access it and you’ll find:
Flight status: Keep an eye out on delays, and do it before you get to the airport. Knowledge is power, and this power is in the palm of your hand.
Airline information: Open up your options by finding out what airlines serve San Diego, and specific terminals in which you’ll find them.
Parking: Look for passengers to use this option a lot. Find out where to park, and how much it will cost.
Ground transportation: Look up taxi, shuttle and public transportation options out of SAN. Shop and compare rates.
Car Rental: Find out if your preferred car rental firm has set up shop at the airport, and get their contact information.
Construction updates: San Diego International is in the midst of a $1 billion makeover just now. Find out how and where construction will affect your trip.
Mobile websites such as San Diego’s are becoming more commonplace. Consider: According to a 2010 survey by the Cellular Telecommunications Association some 91 percent of the population in this country are mobile subscribers. That’s about 285 million folks.
