October is here, which means forests and countrysides across the nation are erupting with spectacular bursts of reds, oranges and browns in celebration of autumn.

New England has long been one of the most coveted destinations in the U.S. for fall foliage, which transforms the region’s hiking paths and country roads into delightfully colorful and crisp experiences. Further south, Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway in South Carolina offer plenty of vibrant foliage that you can enjoy with a leisurely drive down these two iconic highways.

If you’d rather get out and experience the changing of the seasons for yourself, you’ll find the hiking trails in states like Wisconsin, Colorado and Michigan offer a chance to lose yourself in the thick of autumn’s beauty.

There’s still plenty of time for leaf peeping, but in the meantime, enjoy a taste of autumn with this photo tour of stunning fall foliage.
