More flyers are making use of Wichita Mid-Continent Airport (ICT), according to latest figures.
In the first three months of this year the airport noted a 12.67 percent increase in passenger traffic compared to the same period in 2007.
This boost was in part due to the busiest March on record which saw 14,259 air travelers pass through the terminal.
New routes from Allegiant Air to Orlando and ExpressJet to Los Angeles are also thought to have helped increase the number of flyers using ICT.
Valerie Wise, Air Service and Business Development Manager at the airport, explained: “We have always believed our market is much bigger than the traffic that Mid-Continent Airport has attracted in the past, and now with the mix of nonstop destinations and affordable fares, passengers are responding in record numbers.
“While we are very pleased with this growth, we are also very aware of the current state of the airline industry, and are working hard to maintain the fine air service currently at ICT.”
Northwest Airlink and Frontier Airlines also operate services to and from the airport.
