Airport dwell time is a very big deal these days. With sometimes unpredictable departures, and airline food all but absent, passengers want to be entertained, and fed, before they board. To that end, consider what’s happening at Tucson International Airport (TUS).
First, diversion. There’s an extraordinary display of aviation art in the Lower Link Gallery, adjacent to American Airlines’ baggage carousel #7. Silver gelatin prints from photographs by Pamela L. Reed chronicle a bygone age of aviation. The exhibit Days Gone By: the Aircraft of the Boneyard and the Pilots that Flew Them is evocative of retired warbirds, and the warriors who flew them. If you’re an aviation aficionado, it’s a must-see when passing through Tucson.
As for eats, Jet Rock Bar and Grill is now open on the third floor of Tucson’s terminal. It offers everything from pork chops to paninis, and 24 beers on tap. It’s a good spot to eat your fill especially before departing on a long flight to the East Coast. Jet Rock Bar and Grill is open from 5am to 9pm. It overlooks the airport’s Center Pointe.
