Take a breather on the beach and get your groove on when the sun sets in Jamaica: Air Jamaica is launching new Fort Lauderdale flights to Jamaica.

Beginning Feb. 26, four Fort Lauderdale flights will fly to the popular Caribbean destination, replacing the current Miami flights to Jamaica on Air Jamaica.

The new Jamaica flights will be more convenient and cost-effective for travelers, said Air Jamaica is  a prepared statement.

Bruce Nobles, president and chief executive officer for Air Jamaica, said that the termination of the Miami flights was a good thing.

"Closure of this loss-making route will enable the airline's management to focus on our operations at the Fort Lauderdale base, which is more cost-efficient and offers the prospect for stronger growth," he said.

"Essentially, the schedule accommodates the needs of our customers in these markets very well."
