Minot International Airport is seeking a second airline to operate a service to Denver.
Patrick Dame, Airport Director, is currently holding discussions with several carriers about the possibility of a direct flight to Denver. He told local network KXTV that rising fuel prices have discouraged some airlines, but explained that he expects a service between the two destinations within the next year.
Dame commented: “We expect, as oil prices start to settle down, airlines will start to look for new routes. That may be 12 months down the road but we are still working very hard with airlines trying to make sure they know we’re here and we are seeking that west-bound destination.”
The news follows an announcement from Northwest Airlines that it will use smaller aircraft to service Minot due to lower than expected passenger numbers.
Northwest currently offers three flights a day between Minot and Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.
