Routine is comforting, but it can also be stifling. Instead of that trip to the mall this weekend, or walk in the park, fly away to someplace you’ve always wanted to see. With the kind of rates United/Continental and American are offering, the mini-vacation won’t break the bank.

United/Continental lets you fly out Friday Oct. 21 after 7 p.m., or anytime Saturday, Oct. 22. The deal entails a Monday Oct. 24 or Tuesday Oct. 25 return. To get in on these deep discounts you’ll have to book and buy no later than Friday Oct. 21 at 11:59 Central Time. Taxes and fees are not included. Among the roundtrip routes and rates available:

  • Albuquerque flights to Washington, DC are $299.
  • Baltimore/Washington flights to New York/Newark are $139.
  • Burbank flights to San Francisco are $139.
  • Charlotte flights to New York/Newark are $199.
  • Colorado Springs flights to Los Angeles are $249.
  • Dallas flights to Denver are $199.
  • Denver flights to Vancouver are $338.
  • Houston flights to Panama City, Panama are $459.
  • New York/Newark flights to Orange County, Calif. are $299.

American Airlines is promoting its own array of weekend deals, with each-way airfares starting as low as $36 – taxes and fees not included. The time window is the same as that of United/Continental: purchase tickets no later than 11:59 p.m. Central Time Friday Oct. 21. Fly out after 7 p.m. that Friday, or all day Saturday Oct. 22. Return the following Monday or Tuesday.

Again, these discount airfares are each-way, but you’ve got to make a round-trip purchase to get them.

  • Little Rock flights to Dallas/Fort Worth are $36.
  • Milwaukee flights to Dallas/Fort Worth are $81.
  • Washington, DC flights to Raleigh/Durham are $88.
  • Green Bay flights to Chicago are $89.
  • New York flights to Montreal are $98.
  • Chicago flights to Memphis are $109.
  • Chicago flights to Knoxville are $87.

What’s your favorite weekend getaway location – and why. We’d love to know.
