Today marks Chinese New Year, and there’s no doubt countries throughout Asia and Chinatowns around the world will erupt in spectacular shows of parades, performances and fireworks as we ring in the Year of the Horse.

The beginning of the new lunar year is traditionally celebrated in Chinese culture with lion dances, ancestral tributes, cleansings and a healthy dose of the color red for good fortune. These festive celebrations are often taken to the streets for all to enjoy.

Even if your travels don’t coincide with a Chinese New Year celebration this weekend, you can still get into the spirit of the festivities with these photos of Chinese New Year around the world.
