Wedding gifts of china and crystal vases are so 2008.

More and more couples are registering travel wish lists, and hotels are listening.

Hyatt Hotels has introduced a fully customizable travel registry, which include options like room upgrades, fresh flowers in your room, valet parking, meals and cocktails, golf and other activities and spa services. The registry also includes a personalized page to explain the occasion or event.

The registries work just like a regular gift registry you might find at a department store. The recipient enters their wish list and amount requested. Friends and family simply search the registry and identify their desired “gift.”

Recipients traveling to the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean will receive a Hyatt gift card for the total amount of the registry purchases. Hyatt check certificates are given to those traveling those destinations.

No wedding bells in the near future? No problem. Register for an anniversary, “babymoon” or birthday and get the same perks.

We think this could revolutionize gift-giving: More spa treatments, less toasters.
