If you’re under the impression that hostels are just one big party then you would be (partially) correct, at least when it comes to these hostels. From flame throwers to guitar jams to all-night club parties, these places promise a good time along with a great place to stay.

Arts Factory Backpackers Lodge

Byron Bay, Australia

It’s no surprise this hostel started as a commune of sorts–the hippie vibe is still alive and well decades later. At any given time you can participate in an eco-workshop, watch fire dancers practice in the parking lot or just listen as someone nearby jams on a guitar (or didgeridoo!). You’ll also have your pick of unconventional sleeping options from pitching a tent in the campgrounds to a teepee dorm (pictured above).

Milhouse Avenue Hostel

Buenos Aires, Argentina

This hostel has dubbed itself the most-happening hostel in Buenos Aires and with good reason. Every single night of the week (and during the day too) holds some type of planned group activity–anything from salsa lesson excursions to discounted discoteca tickets to soccer game outings. The hostel itself, a five-story 19th century house, is permanently rowdy thanks to the bar’s $1.99 drink specials.

Loki Hostel Cusco

Cusco, Peru

As the base for all Machu Picchu hikes, Cusco is a town filled with adrenaline! And there’s no better place to let loose than atLoki hostel. So go ahead and reward yourself after a hardcore trek with a beer (or three) at the bar alongside fellow adventurers.

Rising Cock Hostel

Lagos, Portugal

This world-famous party hostel is basically a permanent spring break. Do not come here if you’re looking to relax! However, if a legendary booze cruise, blasting music and tons of new friends are what you’re looking for then this is the place for you. And no matter how late you stay out, try not to miss the sensational breakfast crepes.

The Pink Palace

Corfu, Greece

From kayak safaris to ouzo cup volleyball (Google it) to four-wheeler quad safaris, this Greek paradise hostel has no shortage of crazy activities. Oh, and there’s a 24-hour bar.
