Live in Louisville and want to get through the airport fast? Louisville’s International Airport (SDF) spokeswoman Trish Burke says there will be a fast-track Registered Traveler program by month’s end at the Kentucky airport.

“The program expedites a traveler’s security screening,” says Louisville Regional Airport Authority Executive Director Skip Miller. Vigilant Solutions is the company offering the service.

This is a pay-to-play deal. Complete a registration process by filling out an application. Then, go to the office at Louisville International: It’s next to Fifth Third Bank, on the departure level of the terminal. An attendant will verify your ID, and take a photograph, as well as iris and fingerprints. You’ll need a few of forms of identification. In return for that—and a fee—you get a Transportation Security Administration – approved Registered Traveler card. You can use the card at Louisville, as well as some 20-plus other airports in the United States.

Though this may be deemed “fast-track security,” it doesn’t mean your carry-on won’t be x-rayed, and that you won’t still have to pass through a screening portal. It just means faster access to a specially-designed screening lane, and a quicker trip through that lane.
