Passenger numbers reached a nine-year high at Dayton International Airport last month.

The number of people using the airport has risen by 3.4 percent over the past year, taking passenger figures for 2008 so far to 1.1 million.

More than 119,000 travelers flew through the airport in September, compared to 115,000 last September.

Iftikhar Ahmad, Airport Director, said: “We are delighted that more passengers continue to choose Dayton International Airport for their air travel needs.

“Because the Airport is ‘Easy To and Through,’ passengers have an additional reason to choose Dayton International Airport.”

AirTran Airways was the busiest carrier at the airport last month, followed closely by Delta Air Lines and US Airways.

American Eagle, Comair, Continental Express and Air Canada also serve the airport.
