The post office at Cleveland’s airport may close by the end of the year.
The branch allows customers to deposit their packages and envelopes with a clerk until midnight. It also processes mail from airlines.
David Van Allen, U.S. Postal Service spokesman, told The Plain Dealer that closing the branch, whose official name is the Cleveland Airport Mail Center, is being considered as part of an overall streamlining plan.
The branch is on Postal Road, off Ohio 237 and south of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport near the Brook Park city limits.
Brook Park Mayor Mark Elliott told The Plain Dealer that he had not heard of the possible closing, adding that the branch is convenient for many of his city’s residents and businesses.
Until the early 1990s, the branch had a clerk 24 hours a day, allowing passengers, travelers and residents in Cleveland to post their mail after working hours.
