If you can’t make it all the way to England to see the enormous pillars of Stonehenge, you can find the next best thing stateside in Virginia: Foamhenge.
What debuted on April Fool’s Day in 2004 has since become one of America’s top quirky travel finds, building a reputation as one of the must-sees during a visit to Virginia. Created by artist Mark Cline, the full-size Stonehenge replica is made entirely of styrofoam and has been painted to look like the original natural wonder. Each foam stone has been painstakingly carved to the same shape as the original, and the replica is even positioned so it’s astronomically correct, just like the original.
Foamhenge can be found at Virginia’s Natural Bridge, nestled amid the Blue Ridge Mountains, but you can get a first look at this quirky travel find right here.
