*Sigh*

Even at 102 years old, Arizona is still lookin’ good.  Here are seven reasons we love the Grand Canyon State.

It’s truly a “Mountain State.” Arizona is more mountainous than Colorado, Idaho, Utah or any other state that dubs itself a “mountain state.” The Grand Canyon State is topped with 3,928 mountain peaks and summits, more than any other so-called mountain state.

Scottsdale is the ultimate getaway town. Sprawling resorts, world-class golf courses and incredible spa treatments make Scottsdale a promising vacation destination for weary travelers. Plus, the year-round sunshine and warm weather certainly don’t hurt.

It’s got a touch of nostalgia. America’s Highway runs a total of 157 unbroken miles through the Grand Canyon State, reminding drivers of a simpler time filled with classic cars, all-American diners and quirky roadside attractions. Noteworthy pit stops include the Petrified Forest National Park, Meteor Crater, London Bridge and the iconic teepees of the Wigwam Motel.

It’s home to a Wonder of the Natural World. Mother Nature outdid herself when it came to painting on the Arizona canvas, and you can gaze upon her masterpiece at Grand Canyon National Park, one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. Whether you take in the sights from above or head into the canyon for an afternoon of rafting, there’s no denying the awe-inducing beauty of the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon isn’t even the only natural wonder in the state. Check out the winding ridges of Glen Canyon, the incredible blue waters of Havasupai Falls or the brilliant peaks of Red Rock for a taste of the natural beauty that fills Arizona’s landscape.

Arizona even makes deserts look good. Forget those desolate and endlessly sandy images of southwestern desert you may have in your mind, because Arizona makes deserts look good. Saguaro cacti and desert blooms are the perfect accents to the red, rocky backdrops found throughout Arizona.

They know how to party on the water. Hanging out on the lake or at the river is something of a statewide pastime in Arizona. If you’re going to do it right, bring a cooler of your favorite drinks, an inner tube and some sunscreen, then float the afternoon away on the Colorado River or at Lake Mead.
