Wagga Wagga enjoys a beautiful setting on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River in the Riverina region. Gorgeous as the location is, it’s just one reason why people visit Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.

Wagga Wagga is a young city with a thriving student population – thanks to the Charles Sturt University, one of Australia’s largest places of learning. It’s also home to two of the Australian Defense Force establishments.

It’s a noted sports city too. It has given its name to an effect or syndrome that seeks to explain why so many elite sportsmen and women come from this region, and you can see the Wagga Effect for yourself by visiting the Sporting Hall of Fame.

Museums and galleries are plentiful. The RAAF Museum tells the story of Air Force history, the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery is a public art space and the Australian Pen Museum is the country’s only museum dedicated to writing implements.

The Riverina region is known as the pump-house of the state’s wine industry. Charles Sturt University’s wine school and the Ron Potter Research Center are based here.
