Germanwings Check-in

It is recommended that you check in 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of your flight. Check-in desks open two hours before departure and close 30 minutes beforehand. If you don’t meet this deadline, you will not be allowed on board. Online check-in is also available.

Germanwings baggage allowance

Carry-on: Must not exceed 18lbs and maximum dimensions of 22in x 16in x 8in.

Checked: Even if you have more than one bag, the total weight of those bags cannot exceed 44lbs. If you check your bags at the airport, the charge will be €20 per person, per bag. If you check your bags online, you’ll only have to pay half of that charge.

Excess: Charge is €30 per 5kg, with a max weight of 40kg.

Germanwings legroom

Seat pitch: 30-32 inches.

Pre-arranged seating

Seats are allocated at check-in on a first come, first served basis.

Passenger change details

The date of travel can be changed up to two hours before flying time for flights within the same fare bracket. Name changes can be made up to two hours before departure for €35.

Child fares

Infants under two can travel for €15 per route on an adult’s lap. Children between the ages of two and 11 can travel at 80 percent of the regular adult priced ticket. All children have the same baggage allowance as adults regardless of whether or not they are occupying a seat.

None.

Pets

Germanwings only transports cats and dogs in the cabin. The animal should weigh no more than 18lbs, including the transport box or bag, which must be closed and watertight while still allowing air to circulate. This box or bag may be no larger than length 10in x 16in x 16in. There will be a charge of €30 per animal per flight.

Carrying musical instruments

Germanwings will accept musical instruments as carry-on items providing they are no larger than a guitar.

In-flight service

Drinks and snacks are available for purchase on most flights.
