Paying for coffee on a Swiss flight of approx 3hrs. I would’ve expected, that Ryan Air charges….or maybe a charter flight. But 4CHF for a cup of coffee is just another reason, that Swiss (and subsequently LH Group) has lost touch with frequent travellers by a landslide.

Set on the banks of the iconic Mutha river, Pune is the second largest city in Maharashtra, so has a wide variety of attractions for the traveler. You could easily fill up your visit by taking in the museums of this region of India alone. For a one of a kind experience, for instance, why not take a look at the Darshan Museum? This Museum is filled with fascinating facts, which are displayed in an exciting and unconventional way: through 3D holographic images, human actors, and the like. A fun and family friendly attraction, it will leave you with some wonderful memories. Pune is also home to some absolutely stunning, and very unique, religious sites. Bhuleshwar Temple is well worth a visit, for example, as is the spacious Balaji Temple. Visit the Western Ghats to enjoy some absolutely gorgeous natural beauty, from rich vegetation to beautiful trails through the mountains. The Western Ghats are a recognised World Heritage Site, and the countryside around Pune in general is great for walking, trekking, or leisurely scenic drives with the family.
The most temperate season in this part of the world is winter: so plan your trip between November and February to enjoy medium humidity and a hot (but not too hot) climate. In the summer, the city can become too hot to do very much; in April and May especially the temperatures tend to peak at around 107 degrees Fahrenheit. The cheapest time to visit is often during the monsoon period of July to September, as many visitors prefer to avoid the high humidity and very wet conditions that the monsoon brings. Visit during Diwali to enjoy the vibrancy and the splendour of this festival, though be aware that travelling to Pune during festival times can be more expensive than visiting in off peak seasons of the monsoon months.
There are several specialised tour buses in the city which will take you to see all of the main sights, usually for a reasonable price. Take the city bus for convenience: though often crowded, these buses cover an extensive part of the city and so are ideal for getting a comprehensive view of the various sights. For a traditional experience, why not try an auto rickshaw? These three wheeled vehicles are a very common sight on the city streets, and an easy way to get around.
